Dali's Obsession of the Heart seems to be an eerie, dark piece of art. The deep reds and scary face that dominates the center of this piece give off an ominous presence. But do not fail to notice the ‘Three Graces’ in front – the powerful truth behind this lithograph is much more positive than it appears at first glance. Dalí depicts the world as a stage full of opposites – good and evil. The menacing dark 'being' imprisoned behind a cage is seemingly weeping. This 'being' represents the evil in the world. As an alternative to this evil, Dalí incorporates the ‘Three Graces’ off to the side.
