Dalí has put the flowing Red Sea across the upper center of this image, even outlining the flowing water in red as if to prevent us from missing the meaning. Below and center is the body of Christ holding on to a cloth which is held from above, even Heaven. It then flows further to the other side of the Red Sea – drawing the distinct connection between the sacrifice of Christ (the sacrificial lamb) and the Jewish celebration of Passover, which foreshadowed his eventual crucifixion on behalf of all mankind.
