In Under the Parasol Pine, we witness a lover’s rendezvous between Tristan and Isolde. Surrounded by beauty, the couple has set up this liaison but were almost found out by King Marc. Yet again, they deceived him and escaped a discovery. This will be their last time together before they are indeed found out. A flower, most likely a rose, sits in the foreground – the metaphor for Isolde herself as well as Dalí’s symbol for the divine feminine.
