In the colored engraving – King David, Salvador Dalí has chosen to depict the great warrior playing his famous harp. No doubt, he sings one of his songs of praise to the God of the Israelites. Using his iconic symbols, Dalí puts a bold red spot, on King David's crown, with a straight line leading to the space between his eyes, where a butterfly appears. The red is the blood of Jesus Christ, who was born in the bloodline of David and the butterfly symbolizes immortality and resurrection, no doubt – the resurrection of Christ himself.
