Lincoln in Dalivision – paper – Sold
Dali’s two versions of Gala Contemplating the Mediterranean Sea which at Twenty Meters becomes a Portrait of Abraham Lincoln (known as Lincoln in Dalivision) were among the last of his large-scale paintings completed before his decline in health- the latter being among the most reproduced images in his entire body of work. The painted Lincoln in Dalivision remains a part of the permanent collection at the Salvador Dali Museum in St. Petersberg, Florida after having been first exhibited at the Guggenheim Museum in New York. Reproduced here lithographically, Dali has enhanced the image using an etched remarque and embossing.
