Beginning with some of Picasso’s works along the theme of the traditional Spanish bullfight, Salvador Dali transformed them into strange and fantastic dream inspired hallucinations in his 1970 suite Surrealist Bullfight. Among these well known and fanciful works, in this etching, Dali drew bird and fish headed matadors comically battling a bull in front of a crowd of excited spectators and a giant surrealist monster. This memorable etching showcases Dali’s unique and eccentric artistic style.
