Albrecht Dürer

Albrecht Dürer was one of the most important artists of the last millennium, who was among the first to achieve notoriety as a printmaker. Highly successful in his lifetime, he was patronized by emperor Maximilian I and published several influential treatise on drafting. He was instrumental in spreading the ideas of the Italian Renaissance to Northern Europe.
